You gifted me
a satchel of rocks
some rough diamonds
some poisoned stones
Left to lean on
my own alchemy
to decipher
which would serve
and which would harm
A gift and a burden
Turning each one over
to examine it carefully
Detecting
which were gems
and which could kill
Some lessons burned
Others exposed
untold wisdom
Precious stones
unpolished
but worth more than
gold
In time, freed
of the toxic jewels
which hindered
The satchel, now empty
spirit light
I refill it with
carefully selected baubles
to convey my own
Legacy
